Thinking outside the square

Geodome NZ Ltd is a company that really does think outside the square, the first company in New Zealand to build a large-scale geodesic dome.

The Geodome is based on visionary inventor Buckminster Fuller's original 1949 plan, which used interlocking patterns similar to those found at cellular level in nature. Extremely strong for their weight, geodesic domes are superior to traditional right-angle construction; they are lighter, more stable and represent a far more efficient use of construction materials.

Fuller, an early environmental activist, was very aware of the planet's finite resources; his designs, of which the geodesic dome is the most well known, represent the idea of "doing more with less".

Geodome NZ Ltd maintains Fuller's vision today with a range of functional geodesic domes available for any event.
